Alexandria Tree Lighting Ceremony

Market Square – Alexandria
 
November 19 – 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm
 
The Alexandria tree-lighting ceremony is a great way to kick off the Christmas season. Visitors can see the 40-foot tree at Market Square in the city’s Old Town section. This large Christmas tree will feature close to 40,000 lights. The mayor usually has the honor of turning the lights on. Guests can also expect a greeting from the Town Crier when they arrive. There will also be an appearance from Santa during the event.
 

Christmas at Leesburg Animal Park

Leesburg Animal Park – Leesburg
 
Varied dates from December 3 to 23
 
With the Christmas Village at Leesburg Animal Park, you have a holiday experience for the whole family. They have live animals and rides. Kids can feed the animals and take pictures with some of them. The Christmas village also has a live Nativity scene. This event also has pictures with Santa and craft activities. Tickets are $13.95, with children under two getting free admission.
 

Ice & Lights

Cameron Run Regional Park – Alexandria
 
November 18 to January 1 – 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm
 
Ice & Lights is an outdoor winter experience at Cameron Run Regional Park. It is a stunning winter village you can tour with your family. You can enjoy the Christmas atmosphere and take photos with the light displays. As an added attraction, there is an outdoor ice skating rink. Tickets range from $8 to $20 for this holiday festival.
 

Festival of Lights and Carols

Old Town Hall – Fairfax
 
December 3 – 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm
 
The Festival of Lights and Carols is a wonderful event at the Old Town Square in Fairfax. You can enjoy live holiday music and lights. Guests can browse the holiday market as the caroling sets the tone for a festive holiday season.
 
They also have the tree-lighting ceremony at 5:00 pm. It is a free event to enjoy with the entire family.
